Professional experience

Dilzhan specializes in complex cross-border disputes and international investment and commercial arbitration. Dilzhan has represented governmental bodies and companies in courts and leading arbitration institutions, including LCIA, HKIAC and CIETAC.

Dilzhan's relevant experience includes representing:

A sovereign state in an LCIA arbitration in connection with an alleged breach by the issuer of the terms of sovereign Eurobonds;
The majority shareholders in a wide-ranging corporate dispute between shareholders before the Cypriot, Swiss, Chinese, UAE and Russian courts and advising them on ongoing corporate matters within the group of companies;
A foreign investor in an investment arbitration against a Central Asian state under the 1976 UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules in connection with the alleged expropriation of the investor’s plants;
Russian buyer against a Chinese seller in an arbitration under China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) Arbitration Rules, PRC law, and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods in connection with the supply of defective goods.
