Sanctions Experience

Sanctions Dispute Strategy

Representing an issuer of Eurobonds in an arbitration with a US hedge fund arising out of sanctions-related impediments to the performance of obligations under the Eurobonds. The dispute also involved a decision by one of the largest US banks to stop servicing the Eurobonds. We developed a complex defense strategy designed to safeguard our client's interest without having to challenge the relevant UK and EU sanctions or engage the respective sanctions regulators.

Sanctions Asset Recovery

Provided expert guidance to a major investment and brokerage firm on strategy for unfreezing or recovering funds of the broker and its clients that were frozen with a reference to the various sanction regimes. The total amount of assets exceeded USD 100 million. We developed a tailored strategy and delivered a detailed tactical roadmap for implementing the recommended approach, ensuring practical, business-oriented solutions that safeguard the client’s interests and facilitate operational continuity.
